“Pretty Little Liars”is a thriller drama series that follows the events taking place three years after the mysterious disappearance of Alison DiLaurentis, a seventh grade girl, an extremely popular, control obsessed and rather cruel girl.
The show is the film version of the firs of the first of the 12 young adult novels with the same name, written by Sara Shepard.
The series follows the lives of the four (now in junior college) best friends of Alison: Spencer, Hanna, Aria and Emily. The five girls were in a clique, which disintegratesafter the disappearance of Alison, the night before the seventh grade summer holidays was supposed to begin. Three years later, Alison’s body is found and a murder investigation starts revealing the circumstances of her death.
Around the same time, through a weird coincidence, Alison’s former seventh grade colleagues begin receiving variousmessages from someone using the alias “A”, an extortionist who seems to know the Liars darkest secrets including some they thought only Alison knows. “A” threatens to punish the girls for their wrongdoings.
The series stars Ashley Benson as Hanna,Troian Bellisario as Spencer,Lucy Hale as Aria and Shay Mitchell as Emily. The storyline is rich in details, situation sudden turnarounds, ugly secrets and manages to keep the surprise levels high.
